The Gotamagotta (Gotama Family) of the Sakiya (Sakya) Clan





The Gotama family of the Sakiya clan was of the Khattiya (p), Kṣatrirya (s) (warrior) caste and was an important clan in northern India. Although their most famous member was undoubtedly Sakyamuni Buddha, other important members of the Sakiya Clan have been documented, for example Nāropa.
